Book Club Tales

Book Club Tales

I am a huge book person so I am really excited to share a few favorites. I go through phases where I won’t read for months and then all of the sudden finish 4 books in two week. Reading more consistently was actually one of my new year resolutions. So far, I haven’t read one book all year. Great start!

My favorite genre of book is self help. I believe we always can be improving and growing and self help books help get us on the right path so I love them. I tend to re-read self help books a lot and use them as a guide line to live my life somewhat fully. I also love fictional books though! Twilight was definitely a guilty pleasure. I also loved the Fifty Shades of Grey books but let’s not get into that now. I have listed some of my reads and linked all so that you can find your copy.

My first favorite book recommendation would be The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz. I recommend this for any problem you face that needs fixing. Whether you’re in a toxic relationship, wanting to change your outlook or looking for answers of questions you can’t even begin to ask, it has most of the answers. It talks about how to not take things personally, to not assume things, being more impeccable with your word and to always do your best. I absolutely recommend this book and swear by it.

The second book I’d recommend is The War Of Art by Steven Pressfield. This book is a short and easy read for those who aren’t the biggest book readers. I picked it up and didn’t put it down until I was finished. The book talks about breaking through battles and beating resistance so you can push past doubt and fear. It only took me a little over an hour to read, that’s how short it is! Short but effective, just like me.

My third book would be The Alchemistby Paulo Coelho. It’s a magical fictional book about fulfilling your destiny and embracing the journey along the way. It has so much charm and is a read that excites you and challenges you.

Next would be Macbeth by the one and only Shakespeare. The great thing about No Fear Shakespeare books is that on the left side it’s the original Shakespeare text, and on the right is a translated version that’s easier to understand not having studied Shakespeare. I love this story since it’s so dark but told so beautifully. I love dark romantic things too so of course this is a favorite. There’s something so mystical about the way Shakespeare is written and it truly transports you to another time. {P.s. I am a literature student so kind of obssessed with Shakespeare 🙂 }

One of my newer favorite poetry books is Whiskey Words & A Shovel by R. H. Sin. There were so many beautiful pieces in this book that hit home with me. Sitting outside reading poetry, drinking coffee (or usually tea), during sunset is one of my favorite things to do. It’s therapeutic and is almost a version of meditation for me, especially if you’re the type to not be able to sit still to meditate. Millennials can’t seem to sit without distractions these days. *shade*

I am not fond of feminism as I am a huge humanist but Feminist Fight Club by Jessica Bennett is really jolting and it dives deep in the sexism and lack of equality in work places. It gives a sense of unity knowing that it happens EVERYWHERE but how we can work towards changing the way it’s treated. It also is a great book for men to read so you can reevaluate and see if you’re unknowingly apart of the problem so you can FIX IT.

Now it’s time for the good part. Being an Indian I absolutely love my culture and I’ve just finished reading this book My GITA by Devdutt Patnaik. This book believe me is very enriching and soulful. Highly recommend.

(P.s. pardon me I am unable to link this book but you can find all of the above books on Amazon too)

Writing after so long with a new format. I’d love to hear your feedbacks. Happy reading everyone. 🙂

10 Things I’ve Learned In My 20s.

10 Things I’ve Learned In My 20s.

Your 20s can be the most challenging years of your life. They can also be some of the best. You’re seen as an adult, not a kid any more. It’s sad 😦 but reality, and you really should face it. The faster you learn the most difficult life lessons, the sooner you can lead a great and successful life. 🙂 I did learn some lessons too n i think i’m not perfect so yes i’m still learning. Here are  10 things which i want to share with you:

  1. Love hurts, but not as much as not loving: Yes it’s true.. depends on behavior and belief 😉
  2. The friendships you nurture will have a greater effect on your life: Be wise in that.
  3. The decisions we make, actually shapes our future and life: Even the little decisions effects a long way: Being attentive to what you are choosing or making is the key.
  4. The company does not love you: The place you work at, your boss your colleagues they don’t love you. You are replaceable. So keep your parachute handy.
  5. Love is a commitment: you have to be committed to your love if you believe in it.
  6.  Believe it or not, passions grow out of your values: Make early, wise choices to value what (and who) is good, trustworthy, and praiseworthy.
  7. Don’t compare yourself to anyone:-this only leads to heartbreak, anger, and disappointment.
  8. Don’t set expectations for others when they haven’t or cannot commit to them.
  9. Don’t complain: Either change your situation, learn to cope, or change your perspective.
  10. Find your passion. Pick a hobby, own it: photography, dancing—whatever. Get your 10K hours of perfect practice in early and change your life.

Hope this might help whether you are in your 20s or going to step in….! 🙂images (24)

FotorCreatedWell, well Winter is in and we sure have come a long, long way from the days
of the Juicy Couture tracksuit. What was once the stamp of rich-girl irreverence, and later, a traumatic blast from the past, has come full circle. Remember the pink tracksuit from cult classic Mean Girls? It will soon be preserved as a big moment in pop culture as a part of an upcoming exhibition at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. In the more recent past, designer labels influenced by street style, like Alexander Wang, Public School
and Moschino, jumped headfirst into the revival of
sportswear. The casual rising tribe that subscribed to the rules of the street, found themselves including more and more of it in their regular wardrobes. Luxe sport has reached something akin to what the status of a designer handbag was in the ’90s. Adidas’ Yeezy by Kanye West breaks
records every time it surfaces on the internet for sales; several pieces from the collection are sold in the black market for multiples of the original price, and proudly purchased by loyal fans. Even Dior’s former frontman Raf Simons couldn’t resist his old ways and sent sneakers down the runway, where couture was only showed in vertiginous heels. Rihanna, Pharell Williams, Rita Ora have all lent their names to something that, until now, didn’t leave floors of gyms and underground clubs. If you think of it, Cher Horowitz wouldn’t really feel
out of place if you transported her from the
grounds of Beverly Hills High School to the present day. She would be snapped up by the paparazzi as much fervour as Kylie Jenner with Norman. She probably would have dated Brooklyn Beckham. 🙂
Okay! As for you and me, it’s free licence to dress like we went from the gym to a morning meeting, only much nicer. wear your sweatpants with sneakers and if you don’t have them then come one go shop online or street market whatever suits you. So be Swinter ready.

Since it’s my first blog … i have no experience of writing a blog so pardon me if there is any mistake. I’m twinkle and i’m a student, i love writing on everything like social causes to fashion diaries and personal journal.. here i’m blogging publicly because i want to connect with more and more people.. 🙂 i would love to connect with others via blog because i want to share my opinions and to know their views on different topics, cities and anything which grabs my interest.

thank you!
